FIRST TOOTH!!!

Yesterday morning I got the girls up and brought Morgan out to Mike. As I was changing Shelby, he yelled for me to come to the gamily room. Morgan cut her first tooth!!! It is the cutest thing ever!! We weren't looking for them, as the pediatrician said they probably wouldn't get their first tooth until they were about a year old. To our shock .. one day after she turned 10 months, she has a tooth!! It literally appeared overnight!!

WOW .. really been a long time

My goodness ... I'm horrible at this blog thing. I'm going to make an honest effort to write more!! Well, lets see .. the girls are now almost 9 months old!! Where has the time gone? It goes by so fast. As far as milestones:
SHELBY:
1. She can sit up all on her own (happened on her 8 month b-day)
2. She can sign "milk"
3. She can stand on her legs with a lot of strength now (used to be NO strength, we were actually getting pretty worried)
4. She can clap! All you have to do is say "clap, clap" and she does it :)
5. She has a great grasp of toys and small objects; she's a pro.
6. She takes the spoon well now - she wasn't doing so well with that in the beginning.
7. She loves to babble - she first said "Da-da" on Nov. 22nd

MORGAN:
1. She still can't sit up as well as Shelby. She does, but either pushes back or just falls to the side. I think she's got it in her to do it, but she just gets distracted.
2. She can clap! (just started yesterday)
3. She has been standing like a pro for about 3 months now!! She can even stand while holding onto the couch!!
4. She also has an awesome grasp of objects.
5. She LOVES to eat and has always taken the spoon well.
6. She also loves to babble. She makes funny noises with her tongue .. it's so cute!
7. No signing yet - but hopefully soon!

I would say about 2 weeks ago they really started to notice each other. I had heard it happens generally around 9 months, so I was really looking forward to it.

WOW ... I haven't updated this blog in a LONG time!! I need to get my act in gear!!
Well, let's see. The girls are now 5 1/2 months old ... where has the time gone?! They smile all the time, they laugh, they talk up a storm (well, babble!). Shelby has learned how to hold objects, whereas Morgan is not quite there yet. They are so smart and so much fun!! They don't have much strength in their legs yet, and that worries me at times, but I know it will just take a lot of practice. They go to town in their jumpers, but when you hold them up on their legs they just want YOU to hold them up! Just this week we started them on carrots. Morgan LOVES them and Shelby wants nothing to do with them. Shelby just wants the bottle! Hopefully we will break her of that habit soon. Next week is sweet potatoes, so maybe she will like those better. Here are the girls trying out the carrots.

Morgan is definitely a mommy and daddy's girl. Within the last month she does not want anyone else to hold her but one of us. Today we went to a friends house and if anyone held her, she would get the big boo boo lip and start to cry. The minute I would take her back, she was fine. I spoke with the pediatrician regarding this, and they mentioned that it normally happens around 9 months, but it's fine if it appears now. Shelby doesn't mind who holds her as long as SOMEONE is holding her!! She loves to be held. Shelby is our needy one. Morgan is a little more independent. They are so different yet so similar.

Halloween is right around the corner, and we can't wait!! Shelby is going to be a bat, and Morgan is going to be a chili pepper!! :)

SMILES!!!!

It finally happened today - Shelby smiled!!! And it wasn't gas!! LOL. She was looking straight at me and smiled four different times. My heart melted. I have been waiting for this day for one of them to smile. It was amazing!! I tried all day to get Morgan to smile, but it didn't happen .. not yet!!
Last night the girls slept the longest they ever have in one night. We did the last night feeding at 10:30 and they woke up one time at 3:15 in the morning and then right before 7:30. I couldn't believe it. I kept going in the nursery to check on them to see if they were ok! I think we can attribute it to a change in the formula. The girls seemed to be spitting up more frequently all of a sudden, so I went out and got some Enfamil A.R. Lipil for babies who spit up frequently. It has added rice starch to make it more thick. Well, it must have REALLY filled their bellies!!! During the day I went back to their normal formula and NO throw up today at all. So, now we'll try the rice starch formula at night and the regular stuff during the day and see how that works out.
We are getting ready for our trip to San Diego next week to see Grandma Jessica! I can't wait for her to see how much the girls have grown since she last saw them almost a month ago.
